MTCAP-868-001A, how set eth0 IP, public or private?

I have configured my MTCAP-868-001A, Firmware 5.0.0-AEP, mPower™ Edge Intelligence Conduit AP – Application Enablement Platform,
as PACKET FORWARDER to server us1.loriot.io leaving all default setting.
I configured the device on loriot server by providing its MAC address as required, but it results as not connected.
I would like to know if it is necessary to configure my Multitech AP’s eth0 with a public IP address (currently it is set with a private one).
